May Day
The Legal Sector Alliance was borne out of HRH The Prince of Wales’s first May Day Summit on climate change in 2007 which will be reconvene this year on 1 May 2008 bringing together hundreds of business leaders from a range of sectors.
You can register to:

The Legal Sector Alliance will also be taking action on May Day by raising awareness of climate change among employees.
Below are some suggestions for simple activities:
- Establish a staff-led Go Greener Group to encourage suggestions for making the practice more environmentally friendly
- Use stickers and posters available from the Carbon Trust to create an awareness campaign and encourage staff to adopt simple energy efficient actions
- Request nominations for an award to recognise members of staff that have demonstrated environmental awareness
- Create a dedicated intranet page
- Send an email to staff asking them to personally pledge environmental actions with We are what we do
- Organise a screening of ‘An Inconvenient Truth’ or ’The 11th Hour’
To find out what other firms have done to raise awareness of climate change and environmental issues, view the case studies or share your experiences by submitting your own.
Raising awareness and encouraging behaviour change among staff is one of the ways that your firm can reduce its environmental footprint and save money. To read more about other areas for reducing impact, you can read and comment on the LSA Task force’s discussion paper ‘Reducing impact’.
